Finished -The Walking Dead episode 2 (Xbox 360)
When I reviewed The Walking Dead episode 1, I said I would not review any of the others until the season ended. I am holding to my word but the point of writing this is to keep all you wonderful readers in the loop. Well, I messed things up. Messed them up bad. How bad? I don’t think anything went the way I think it should have in hind site. But, I refuse to go back and play it again. I am going to play each episode once as they come out and review that entire experiance. I will then sit down and play the entire season in one sitting. Maybe episode 2 will turn out differently. Because I SCREWED IT ALL UP! REALLY BAD!
Playing – Final Fantasy Tactics (PlayStation)
Long ago in what seems like another time (read: pre-wife and kids), I sunk a ton of time into this game. The amount of time spent would make Skyrim hang it’s head in shame. I didn’t have to balance the factors of extended play time and getting through it efficiently. Sadly (REALLY FREAKING SADLY) I powered up my Playstation one day and my save game would not load. I can recall that day with great detail. I sat on my living room floor powering up FF:T and trying to load my game. But, my game was not there. It was not on any of my memory cards. Remember memory cards? I hate memory cards. I was near the end of the game. I know that for a fact thanks to GameFAQ. I was so disheartened that I put the game back in it’s case (It had not left the PS for 14 months) and stowed it away. It’s a known fact by a very few people that the PlayStation 3 had PlayStation 1 emulation written into it’s software. I was thinking about that as the urge to dive back into Final Fantasy Tactics started to boil under the surface.
I could buy the updated War of the Lion’s version of PSN and play it on my Vita, but since the Steam sale, I have digital purchases on lock-down. BUT, I can play my Final Fantasy Tactics disc using my Vita. The realization of this stunned me. While my wife was using the TV, I could be playing FFT. I know that I have a few new Vita games to play so why would I go backwards? Just because something is old doesn’t mean it is not awesome. So, using Remote Play I can play FFT on my sofa, in bed, etc.
Playing – Carnival Carnage (WP7)
You remember that dream you have of being in a video game? The one where you are the only thing between humanity’s downfall and a horde of zombie clowns? Well, GlowPuff is letting me live that dream. He crafted the main character in his new game after me. After some confusion and dealing with Microsoft, I got a Beta build of Carnival Carnage. What’s odd is that this beta build is a thousand times better than most stuff on Windows Phone marketplace — BURN! It’s a twin stick shooter in the spirit of smash TV. It has the signature frantic GlowPuff fun. It’s a blast. I also built some 3D models for it. I am very excited to be helping with his most ambitious project yet. I can’t wait for it to be out and in people’s hands. You will love it.
Playing – Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita)
Alright, the tutorial stuff is fading away. The story is now taking center stage. Before you ask, No, I am not using all the touchscreen/other stuff features. I am playing the way God intended games be played. With buttons. This game keeps surprising me. I know that it’s on a portable, and I should not be judging it as such. I keep forgetting it is on a portable. It is in now way close to the graphical prowess of it’s console big brother, but it looks GOOD. Beyond that it plays like an Uncharted game. What more can you ask of an Uncharted game? Besides Chloe?
Playing – Duke Nukem Forever (PlayStation 3)
So…..I think I found the level designed for the PlayStation 2. Yeah, you read that right. Las Vegas is rendered with only the love a PS2 could provide. That means hyper low textures and sparse buildings. It wouldn’t be a problem if I wasn’t up in the air on a tower. They decided a texture map from Google Earth would be a perfect way to fill in the (massive) gaps between buildings. Imagine if you will that you are looking down at a city that is flat save the few building that jut out of the perfectly flat ground. Las Vegas is flat? Who knew. It wouldn’t be that bad if the enemies I am fighting matched the rest of the level. But, my guns and said enemies are more of the current gen fair. It looks really crazy. I so hope I am almost done. I want the pain to stop.
Well, I’m off to game.
