The Finishing Journal – Page 8

Finishing – Call of Duty Classic (Xbox Live Arcade)
AUGH! I am stuck in this game. I remember now why I put it down. I am so stuck I am afraid I am going to have to start over! I would put a sad face emoticon right here if that was something I did. I don’t do that, so no sad face emoticon.

It seems back in World War 2 (and PC first person shooters), you can’t hide behind boxes and wait for the bullets to fall out of your body and the blood to flow back into it. I have just the smallest sliver of health, and I am stuck in an insane fire fight. I have worked out a pattern to take out 16 Nazi’s, but there is one, just one that I can’t get a clean shot on. He, on the other hand, is very good at shooting me through the metal wall I am hiding behind. SO MUCH FUN!

This game truly feels Classic. We have come such a giant way in gameplay since this was the definitive (was it? No, Half-Life was.) PC first person shooter. But watching bad guys just move their feet back and forth as they float down stairs is pretty funny.

Finishing – Torchlight (Steam)
Remember when I said I was playing a mage? THAT ENDED! He kept getting sneezed on and dying. So, I re-rolled a fighter. I like hitting things with swords and axes…I like that very much. I found this crazy guy standing in town. If you talk to him he opens a portal to a location and tells you to bring back an item for him. You get to keep the rest of the loot. He said loot; I was in. I have stopped my descent into the mines because I just keep talking to this guy and going on his mission.

I also found this is the perfect game to play while holding a baby. One hand character control? Let’s see you do that Xbox and PlayStation!

Talking – Pen fights Gamepad
Remember Dan Absalonson? Yeah, you do! Well, he and I got together to record a podcast. It’s part his site, part my site, and all fun. So if you ever wondered what I sound like, now is your chance to hear it. I think it’s a great mix of very nerd-centric fun. You get to find out why I am not an air vent repair man. Also, did you know I had a Graphic Novel? Hear about that too. Dan will tell you about the book he is writing. He will also drop a spoiler about it. That was awesome. I will be posting a link as soon as it is available.

I am hoping to get Bitterly, Rambler, GlowPuff and Brad to come on and chat with us. I am so excited about this.

Socks – Oh Hands
My daughter wears socks on her hands. I don’t know why, and I find it very odd. I tried it out myself. It didn’t seem very effective for anything. Holding the kids was harder and holding a game controller was even harder. Let’s just not talk about going to the restroom. It probably would have been wise to tell my wife that I was going to try this experiment. It would have avoided her looking at me like I had lost it (even more). I asked Molly why she wears socks on her hands. “Oh Daddy, because socks on my hands.”, She told me. I guess that is perfect logic for the situation. Kids are awesome!

Excited about – PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
Before E3 I was not very excited about PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale. First, the name is not very good. “Hey Brad, want to come over and play PASBR?” Second, I had no idea how it worked without a ring out system. After E3, I am so excited about it! That looks so fun. The building your combo level so you can use a super move to knock out out an opponent is awesome! I can’t wait to play that. I love Smash Bros, but this is like grown up Smash Bros. Cant wait!

Well, off to play some games.

Remember this?I really wish I could find a copy of this. I didn’t get to finish it.
I remember it was crazy in the story department.
